Whether you’re taking your first steps, or have been playing for a while, my guitar, Bass, and Ukulele lessons are well suited to take your playing and passion to the next level!
With a degree that focussed on Jazz guitar performance from the University of Leeds/ University of North Texas, and a Masters degree in Popular Music from Goldsmiths College London, I have a great deal of experience in producing high standards of work on guitar and in music more generally. I’m a big believer in following the passion of the student and am well suited to teach styles such as pop, rock, Neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, and country.
Having taught previously with Hackney Music Service, Southwark Music Service, and now privately for five years. I have a wealth of experience and training that guides every lesson, with a solid academic foundation and an empathetic teaching style I have found that the blending of traditional guitar pedagogy approaches with an ear for the needs of each individual student has given a wealth of amazing results in my students. For example, I currently have a 100% pass rate for rock school grade exams for my students, yet I have many students who don’t take grades and equally make great progress.
In my lessons you’ll be playing songs immediately. It is my practice and belief the best way to learn is to do, and I have many lesson plans which utilise popular songs to help learn specific techniques, chords, picking, melodic lines, and improvisation. In addition to this I would encourage students to suggest songs they enjoy listening to that we can unpick together in the lesson, and create practice exercises from the music they enjoy listening to.
My approach to education is that we must create a relaxed space in which we are free to try and try again without any negativity, in my lessons you will be pushed to achieve your best, in a fun and positive way!
